On the other hand, those of us who crave those deeper relationships between characters often can't find it in crossovers or superficial canon interactions. No need to fret about those inconveniences in this meme. Around these parts, everybody knows your name - no, not Cheers. Sorry. I mean that all characters know each other.

You're a strong person, perhaps physically, perhaps mentally, perhaps both. You're brave. A steel rod of a backbone means you face your enemies with little hesitation, doing the job no one else wants to do. That kind of intestinal fortitude is commendable. You have a purpose. You have a mission. There is something about you that people want.

And you have a weakness.

Maybe nobody knows it or maybe everyone knows it, but your weakness is the person you're in love with. Yes, in love. Someone like you can be in love, whether you've admitted it to yourself or not...or to them. More than anything, you want to be with them and keep them safe from harm. Sometimes, you just can't. It's more dangerous around you than with you.

Whether you're together or not, you should hope that no one with an axe to grind with you knows that this person is your blind spot...

Not Accepted: You’ve finally revealed what you are in all actuality to them and the reaction was not positive. They’re repulsed by you or by what you’ve done.
Dynamic Duo: They’ve accepted everything about you, including your mission. In fact, they want to help you fulfill your purpose.
Family: You two have started a family together, so there's even more to lose.
Blackmail: Some sinister somebody is holding the happiness, safety, or wellbeing of your loved one above your head to make you serve them.
Hate Me: It’s not enough to leave them. You have to ensure their safety by making them despise you and never search you out.
Destroy: You know that they could be your undoing, so you'll take them out yourself. You refuse to be weak.
Kidnapped: Your weakness has been spotted and picked at, quite literally. Now, the person you care for is in the clutches of someone who wants nothing more than to see you destroyed.
Bad End: ~~Is it in bad taste to want to name this prompt after a certain comic book character?~~ The worst of your fears has come to past. Your beloved is dying in your arms because of their relationship with you and you weren't able to save them in time.
Placed in Your Life: The one you thought you loved and trusted was only a mole all along. They were placed in order to get you to make certain decisions and never really cared for you.
Happy Ending: You've made it to a safe enough place in your life for you and your love to be stable and settle down.

You know the story— a bunch of hot people get a TV show contract and show up to a closed set to spend a few weeks getting hot and bothered over the available bachelor/ettes. Now, forget that story.

Your character has been asked or forced to appear on a televised game show for the pleasure of an interdimensional audience. They must find love, or at least fail at it entertainingly enough for the audience to not vote them off the show! Perhaps elimination will mean death, or maybe it'll just send them to the Loser Corner where there are no cool drinks but also no more pressure to fuck.

Whatever flavor of game show you prefer, this meme is for a Love Island style drama— or perhaps even getting around the jealous love triangle vibes and sabotaging by romancing the whole cast. The world is your oyster.

You're a pop star, or a royal, or maybe even the last of your kind who will bring about the Earth's redemption. Whatever the case may be, you're in a position that may be a bit dicey if you attract the wrong kind of attention.

And you're a bodyguard, a soldier, a knight - a protector. Somehow, you've been roped into protecting this person. You'll be rewarded, of course. The work may be cut out for you, but just do your job, keep your head down, and it'll go smooth.

Except for when the two of you break the bounds of professionalism and feelings begin to flourish. Being in such close quarters may get you to see the other in a different light, and saving someone's life just may be the ultimate form of intimacy.

Could this be the real danger? To feel so strongly for the one you've sworn to protect...are you compromised?

How to Play

1. Comment with your character and preferences, being sure to put if you want to play the guard, the guarded, or either. Also, you may want to put if you prefer fluffy, angsty, or smutty interaction - or have no preference.

3. There are no prompts, because there are so many potential options there could be a hundred. Feel free to play anything: the beginnings of the relationship, just meeting, getting used to each other/not getting along at first, the obligatory first time, a threat on the protected's life and how their protector responds, how the feelings between the two has changed the protection, etc. Your only limit is you.

IT’S THE WAFFLE HOUSE MEME

WHAT IS IT
It's like the Denny's meme but more southern.

Welcome to the waffle house meme. What is Waffle House, you say? It's a breakfast based chain found mostly in the southeastern US. It's like Denny's, but smaller and Generally, there are only very specific situations and times you go to the waffle house. Going outside these times causes a rift in reality so I wouldn't suggest it.

8 AM: Why the hell are you in Waffle House during breakfast? No one actually eats here for breakfast. You're probably alone except for an old man in the corner with a "VIETNAM VETERAN" baseball cap and a dip cup. At least the coffee is fresh.

12 PM: You're hungover, no doubt about it. Probably everyone else in here is too, including the cook. Order three orders of hashbrowns scattered, chunked, and covered and pray god no one decides to put techno on the jukebox again.

7 PM: You've just pulled off the highway and this is the only thing you've seen for miles, besides some suspect fried chicken places. Someone's put 2 hours worth of 90s country on the jukebox, but it's Garth Brooks so it'll be okay. Order the pecan pie, because you deserve this.

11 PM: You're here for lack of anything else to do, let's be honest. Maybe the party ended too early, or you got off work, or you needed a pee break reeeaalllly bad. Someone probably just put Don't Stop Belivin' on the jukebox and everyone is screeching along. Eat your goddamn pecan waffle and participate

2 AM: You're wasted, or you're the DD for the night. Either way, you're here because someone is blitzed. The only people in here that aren't drunk are the staff and like, three truckers. It doesn't matter what you eat because you won't taste it anyway.

It happens to everyone - sometimes, you have nights where you just can't fall asleep, no matter what you do. It could be for a number of reasons, or no reason at all. And this is what's happened now: you've been laying in bed for what feels like hours, just tossing and turning, and nothing seems to help. So what's left to do? Get out of bed and go wake someone else up, of course. If you're not getting any sleep, then why should they?

01 • FEAR. Maybe you're hearing strange, indeterminable noises; maybe there's a severe storm happening outside; maybe you watched a scary movie before bed? Whatever the reason, you're terrified and it's keeping you awake. You just want to wake someone else up so they can protect you from the monster in your closet.
02 • HUNGER. Your stomach is growling and it just won't stop. Or perhaps your throat is so dry you could cough up a tumbleweed? Well, you've gone to the kitchen to remedy this and hey, that was a pan that just dropped on the floor. It was loud enough to wake the dead! Oops.
03 • PAIN. Your body is completely worn out, be it from exercise, battle, sickness, or what have you. Either way you're in enough pain to keep you from sleeping, so maybe someone else has a home remedy or something, or can at least help you take your mind off of it.
04 • SOLITUDE. For some reason, your bed just feels so empty at the moment. You're feeling terribly lonely and really just want someone to keep you company for a while. Maybe it'd be easier to fall asleep if you're with them...
05 • DISCOMFORT. Your room is an oven. Either that or a freezer. Or maybe this bed is just really uncomfortable? Who knows why you can't get to sleep, it feels like it could be anything. Why even bother trying? Maybe someone else can preoccupy you until you feel tired enough to ignore your discomfort.
06 • PENSIVE. Something's on your mind, and no matter how hard you try to focus elsewhere, it's just not going to work. Your body may be tired, but your mind is incredibly busy and it's virtually impossible to get to sleep. Surely, talking it out with someone else will help?
07 • SADNESS. Something terrible has happened that day, perhaps; or you could just be severely depressed. Either way you're trying your hardest not to cry yourself to sleep, and it's not working at all. Better find a way to get it out of your system somehow; you need a shoulder to cry on.
08 • ANGER. You are just... fuming. Who knows why - that annoying dog is barking again, or maybe the people next door are getting busy and keeping you awake. Whatever the reason for your ire is, you'd better put an end to it so you can get some damn rest already! Go wake up a friend so you can complain to them.
09 • RESTLESS. You're far too energetic to sleep right now. Maybe you're just trying to do so out of necessity - you have to be up early tomorrow! But you just don't think you'll be able to fall asleep for a while now, so why waste the time trying to sleep when you could be doing something else? Namely bothering someone else - you're totally jealous because they're getting more sleep than you.
